With Death in Mind

The tenderness of life

Chokes me, and swells as a hurried tide;

Collapsing frivolities,

only a deep loyalty to love remains.

To value life is to get up in its folds

to smell its musk and to dance despite.

At least there’s music,

and ears to hear it

bones to feel it.

The apple loses luster

once digested.

Issues lose forward motion

once corrected.

It’s in the eating,

the crying, the debating,

the driving, the attending, the mending, learning and growth

that we are at service.

Our movements weave welcome mats

for the next who

happen to

stumble

into

our

shared

perception of

Consciousness.
